By the way, I find it very odd that you would criticize The Register for not reporting an accident that YOU were at fault for. Maybe instead of coming on here acting like a drama queen, you should
1. Go apologize to your daughter for being the one that got her hurt
and
2. Go sign up for some remedial driving lessons
You may also want to have your eyes checked since you apparently failed to see a truck coming at you on a totally clear day
Maybe I should have saved my "the more things change, the more they stay the same" post for this topic.....
Anyway, everyone I think that hell just froze over because I am going to defend the Register.....
Number one...the accident in question took place in Lorain County, correct? Last time I checked the Register did not cover Lorain County, nor do they "compete" with the Elyria paper.
Number two....I know the verbage of the Sandusky Register Carrier Contract. In it it states that you are hired as an independent contractor. In other words you have to pay any taxes on your income out of you own pocket (they do not withold), they can end your contract at anytime, and they do not furnish "substitue carriers" for you. It clearly states in the contract that you are to find and have your own sub on stand-by for you. This is not the responsibility of the Register nor the Register's District Managers. This is YOUR responsibilty. I understand that you were in the hospital, and I know some of the Register employees think they know everything, they are not mind readers. They do not know if you are able to do your route or not. The Register is in the business of delivering newspapers, if these newspapers are late the Register looses business. Trust me I have seen people "fired" for any number of reasons, you are not the first nor the last.
Next time read the contract.
In the meantime I will make your dreams come true.....but I have to agree with the previous poster, why would you want this reported in the local paper when it clearly states that you were at fault? Do you like attention that much?

LORAIN — A 5-year-old Huron girl was listed in fair condition Thursday at a Cleveland hospital after the car she was riding in was broadsided by a delivery truck.
The girl’s mother, Leigh Ann Ferguson, 24, of Huron, was driving a 1999 Chevy Prism north on Oak Point Road at 10:45 a.m. morning, said Lorain police Officer Allan Cornwell, a crash reconstructionist with the traffic division.
The girl, Clara Davies, was in the back seat, and Jason Ferguson, 32, of Vermilion, was a front seat passenger. Leigh Ann Ferguson stopped at the stop sign at Oak Point Road and West Erie Avenue, Cornwell said.
“She stopped for the stop sign and then she attempted to make a left turn onto West Erie when her car was struck by the truck,” Cornwell said. “The truck hit the driver’s side rear passenger door where the child was sitting.”
The 2009 truck, owned by Valley Natural Gases in Elyria, was driven by 63-year-old Raymond Rhoades of LaGrange and was heading east on West Erie Avenue. Valley Natural Gases delivers tanks, such as oxygen tanks, to companies and factories, Cornwell said.
Rhoades had the right of way because he did not have a stop sign, Cornwell said. The truck driver was unharmed.
“There was no view obstruction,” he said. “She should have seen the truck. There were no other vehicles that we could see.”
Clara was in a child seat, but it remains unclear whether the Fergusons were wearing seat belts, Cornwell said, adding the relationship between the two also has not been determined.
All three were transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where Jason Ferguson was treated and released, a hospital spokesperson said. Clara and her mother were flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
“The mother had various injuries,” Cornwell said. “The daughter had upper-body head injuries.”
Leigh Ann Ferguson was discharged from MetroHealth Thursday afternoon, while her daughter remained in the hospital and was listed in fair condition, a nursing supervisor said.
No charges have been filed, Cornwell said, and the accident remains under investigation.

First, I'm glad your daughter and you are ok.
Second, I have to agree with the previous two posters that this is a very bad thing to try to bring attention to. As Karl noted the Register does not cover out of county accidents and things. This is a small newspaper. Heck, half the time they don't cover local things going on, but rely on the police blotter.
Paper routes are not that difficult to get. I hope you can get yours back and regain some lost income. Either way, good luck, and be sure to look both ways!
p.s. Please in the future refrain from huge fonts, caps, or bold. They really are akin to screaming in netiquette and harm your points.
I was going NORTH on Oak Point Road and was making a LEFT turn onto West Erie Avenue in Lorain,Ohio on June 4th,2009 at 10:45 AM.
The truck in question.......
Had its directional on to make a RIGHT turn onto Oak Point Road . I saw the truck slow to make this turn, But apparently did NOT need to make the turn after all.
All I remember after that was, I was attempting to make MY LFET turn onto West Erie Ave..... and then was broadsided by this truck!!!!!
After the impact of the truck to the back of the Rear Driver's side, ( Where my daughter was) got the brunt of the impact......... All I remember after that was waking up in Cleveland MetroHealth Hospital!!!!!
So there is my side of the story!!!!!!!!
Thanks to your insistence that we read the other papers, we really don't need to hear your side. It clearly states that you had a stop sign and the truck didn't. It was your responsibility to make sure the lane was clear before proceeding and you didn't.
Please re-read this part of "My Side of The Stroy"
The truck in question.......
Had its directional on to make a RIGHT turn onto Oak Point Road . I saw the truck slow to make this turn, But apparently did NOT need to make the turn after all
So as YOU can SEE, I did SEE the truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sure, but did you make sure that the truck was clear of the intersection before you left the stop sign?
The first thing I learned in drives ed. was to never assume, making assumptions kills.
i think you should sue the register. i will take the case pro bono.
p.s. did anyone in the register office ever give you a neck massage?
Ten years ago I was driving in Cincinnati.
I got off 75 and went over a hill and through a light on Cincinnati-Dayton road.
There was a big truck just past the light with no brake lights or blinkers stopped on the street. I slammed on my brakes but didn't realize he was stopped until I was very near. I hit his back bumper.
I was furious and asked the cop if it was legal for him to be parked on a 45 mph road just past a street light in a bad blind spot.
The Police Officer said he empathized with me but Ohio has a right of way law, and there was nothing he could do. He then preceeded to write me a ticket.
The moral of this story is whatever you say won't trump the fact the truck had the right of way. You were wrong, just as I was.
The accident is your fault.
I have a couple of questions ?????
Who are you??????
and how can you help me get my routes back?????
Please email me to my Personal Email Address.............
Babykitten1230@yahoo.com
Thanks a bunch for the support!!!!
Sincerely,

/agree with Karl... lol
Thread over.
Ok before this thread in announced over let me add this.
1999 Chevy Prizm $750
Substitute carrier for your paper route $20 a day

watching a joke fly over a totaly self-absorbed drama queen's head priceless
Ok now this way to the egress
Kitty... Just in case you were wondering why you get 500 spam messages in your e-mail daily... If you post your e-mail address in a public forum on the internet, there are programs that will add it to a large database and sell it to spammers. The spammers will then send you dozens of e-mails a day for "male enhancement", etc. If you get messages from Nigeria telling you they want to give you money, don't reply. Good thing Yahoo filters that stuff...
Also, you would let someone with the screen name of crummybuttlord represent you legally?
Just a little tip for everyone in your next post. If you replace the @ sign with the word AT you can beat those programs. Hope this helps if you just need to post your e-mail address.
It's the same line of code to check for <username>@<domain>.<suffix>, <username>AT<domain>.<suffix>, and <username>AT<domain>DOT<suffix>.
When the computer is doing the work for you, adding another pass to a text filter is nothing. You're more than welcome to try to beat a spammer. But, the best way is to give out as little info as possible.
So, what you are saying is mattwesterhold@sanduskyregister.com will get you spammed and mattwesterholdATsanduskyregister.com will get you spammed, but mattwesterhold at the sanduskyregister with a dot com might not.
Got it!
Exactly...
This was just something that i had heard on a podcast. So far the things that Leo Laprote has not been far off on the thing he has said. But the way you put it makes sense.
Cross, you might just become my hero after that post.
Was anyone else slightly taken aback by the pix of this young lady on the front page of the SR???? Hmmmmmm, i think it belongs on the front of a girlie magazine not the SR, but oh well, that's just my opinion.!!!!
I did not comment on the main Register site because I did not want to be negative, but man...Hooters must have lowered its standards. It looks like someone has spent way too much time in the sun or under a lamp.
I was finally charged with
Failure to Yield Turning Left!!!!!!!
That's it.......................................... So far!!!!!!!!!!!
You
Sound
Like
You
are
proud
of
that
It's state law, TOW. The cop has to write you that citation regardless of the reasons.
I wasnt written a Citation yet but .....................
I am just going by what the last page of the Poilice Report says.
If there was an injury then there would be a court date, be sure not to miss that or else then you will have a warrant.
I've been away for a while, but it's good to see that some things never change. Good luck with this one, Leigh Ann.
I have not been notified as of yet if there is going to be a court date. I havent even received the citation yet either!!!!!
And Karl, I know that I need to show up for a court date. I'm not all that gone upstaris yet in my life!!!!!!!
Here is the thing, how does the newspaper know. The newspaper could not know unless there was a citation made to you. I think you might want to make some phonecalls. The court date is normaly made by the officer on scene at the scene. This is normaly his next day in court, and very rarely is more than 2 weeks away. If you do not show up for court they will hold the precedings without you there....in otherwords your will be sure to be found guilty. This maybe how the newspaper knows what you were charged with. They already held your trail, you were found guilty and it is a court record. If you were not at the trial, they may be more.
Karl - She said she read on the police report that she was charged. You have a point though. If she was not ticketed at the scene of the accident (probably not as she was transported to a hospital) she most certianly would have been ticketed at the hospital. She needs to look into this. If she misses her court date - the next action would be for the judge to issue a bench warrant for her arrest.
TOW - you need to call the investigating agency to find out.
Ahhh the police blotter, you are right about that. You are also correct about the hospital though. I recently had my Audi totaled while I sat at a red light. The other driver only had her drivers license for 6 days and decided to try to beat a red light in a V-8 rear wheel drive car......by going through a pile of leaves that had been there all winter and were nice and wet. The officer on the scene went all the way to the hospital to give her the citiations. The bottom line is that if it was in the paper, but she has not heard anything yet, she needs to be on the phone.
Doesn't she have to sign and have the ticket in her possession for it to be valid. It can be issued, but until she's in possession of it, I think it isn't good.
But I'm not in local law enforcement, so that's just a guess. I'd definitely suggest following up on it.
Think about red light camera's and other "enforcement" devices. You do not sign those tickets, in those cases it is mailed to you.
Like I have said before,,,,,,,,, I have NOT been given any thing to sign. I was not given a ticket as of yet.
I did make 2 phone calls..............
First one being to the police............... I was told to call back more than once.
Second one being to the court....................... When I gave my name............... The court has NOTHING in their system about me!!!!!!
So what do I do now???????
Thank you for the advice.
I will have to try that................... Oh wait.................. I already did...........................
I am having no luck......................... What do I do now????????
Leigh Ann, if you know the jurisdition the accident occurred in, you may try to do a docket check on line through the clerk of courts website for the court of venue. Other than that, persistance in calling the issuing agency would be the best bet, even if you do not find your name on the court docket.
To Leigh Ann,
I hope that you and your daughter are doing well.
Your hearing date is 07/07/2009 at 9:30 AM at the Lorain Municipal Court.
Your case number is 0902930
